MEERKATS
Stand Tall
5 – 7 Years Old
The Meerkat programme is the first step in the Scouting journey, designed especially for energetic and curious children aged 5 and 6 years old. Rooted in the Scout Method, the programme offers age-appropriate material that supports early childhood development while introducing the values and spirit of Scouting.
At 1st Bryanston, our Meerkat Dens are vibrant spaces where young children embark on a journey of discovery, teamwork, and fun. Weekly gatherings—attended together with a parent/guardian—create a safe and nurturing environment where Meerkats learn through play, exploration, and hands-on activities.
Through interactive games, creative crafts, and outdoor adventures, Meerkats begin to develop essential life skills such as self-confidence, teamwork, responsibility, kindness, respect for nature.
They also learn the basics of living a healthy and active life and how to care for the environment. As they progress, Meerkats follow the Meerkat Trail, earning Challenge and Advancement badges that celebrate their growth and achievements.
Guided by skilled and caring adult leaders, Meerkats are encouraged to explore their surroundings, build friendships, and embrace the joy of learning. Every achievement—no matter how small—is met with enthusiasm, reinforcing a sense of pride and belonging.
This is where the adventure begins. The Meerkat programme lays a solid foundation for future Scouting experiences, helping our youngest members become confident, compassionate, and capable individuals. Welcome to Meerkats—where the journey starts for our most spirited explorers.
